What does the term “sedentary” even mean?

Ergonomics can get complex.
Here are 2 terms that helped me understand it…
Computer Posture Key Terms: Part 7
→ Sedentary
When a person spends long periods of time in a seated, somewhat inactive position.
Major emphasis on the word “somewhat” inactive.
Because some muscles may be inactive all day.
But other muscles are constantly, chronically overused when we’re sitting at a computer.
→ Postural Stacking
Aligning head, shoulders, ribs, and pelvis over each other while sitting.
When standing, including knees and feet into the mix.
All while maintaining a neutral spine, with its natural curves intact.
When I’m postural stacking, it eliminates slouching forward with my torso, as well as forward head posture.
